Delhi weather: Is March feeling like January? IMD forecasts another rain spell next week

Fog after rain: What caused this sudden winter feeling?
The flash fog was not seasonal, but a short-term effect triggered by a mixture of rain-soaked air and cooling overnight. After days of cloud cover, the skies opened up overnight, allowing heat to quickly escape from the surface.
Explaining this phenomenon, Mahesh Palawat of Skymet told ToI, “The sky remained clear throughout the night, which resulted in the cooling of the land. This is one of the reasons why the minimum temperature normally seen in February dropped sharply to 13 degrees Celsius. There was already sufficient moisture and this was further increased by moisture-laden winds in the morning hours. Thus, the winds on the earth’s surface intensified, leading to the formation of fog.”
Delhi Weather Forecast: IMD predicts rain, clouds followed by gradual warming next week
The official IMD forecast shows that the weather in Delhi will remain unstable for a few more days before temperatures rise steadily:
March 22: Partly cloudy skies are often cloudy at night; temperatures are around 29–31°C and 13–15°C.
March 23: The sky is generally cloudy, with the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms/lightning from noon to afternoon.
March 24: Partly cloudy skies return with similar temperatures around 30–32°C.
25–27 March: Partly cloudy weather will prevail and temperatures will gradually rise to 32-34°C towards the end of the week.
The IMD also noted that maximum temperatures, which are currently below normal, will increase by 4-6°C in the short term before stabilising.
Temperature still below normal in Delhi
Despite the daytime rise, temperatures in Delhi are still below normal levels for late March. Recent readings showed maximum temperatures in the range of 26-27°C and minimum temperatures around 12-13°C; both were lower than seasonal averages.
This gap is expected to narrow as the week progresses, especially as cloud cover decreases and rain activity weakens.
