Delimitation will not affect southern States, says Goyal

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Monday (April 13, 2026) said that 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies will be implemented by 2029.

During his meeting with journalists Hindu, He called the view that the proposed exercise would be disadvantageous to the southern states a “foolish concern”. Accusing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and others of spreading a false narrative on the issue, he said, “There is a proportionate increase across the country. Everyone is back to their old ways.”
