Delta became the only carrier serving the area after low-cost carrier Avelo withdrew from the Binghamton market in 2024 due to lack of profitability. The airline’s daily flight from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) will operate for the last time on February 14. While airport officials are in talks to include other commercial airlines, for now BGA will only serve general aviation, such as flight training, air ambulances and agricultural flights.
“Air service decisions involve many factors that are beyond the control of local airports and communities,” GBA Aviation Commissioner Mark Heefner said in a statement. “We are in active discussions with Delta and working closely with our state, local and federal partners to restore passenger service as quickly as possible. We also continue to hold meetings with multiple airlines as we explore opportunities to expand air service in BGM. Our focus remains on providing reliable, accessible air travel options for the people and businesses of the Greater Binghamton area.”
