Met Office issues yellow weather warning as snow and rain to hit UK

A yellow alert has been issued for the east of England due to snow and experts have warned residents to be prepared for snowfall.
The Met Office said the rain that ravaged England on Sunday morning will likely turn to sleet and snow, with up to 4cm of snow expected in some areas.
Forecasters said the heaviest snow was likely to be seen in the Lincolnshire Wolds and parts of Norfolk and Suffolk. However, the snow is expected to turn into rain in the coming hours.
A number of warnings expired over the weekend, but a new snow warning covering parts of eastern England will remain in force until 4pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Environment Agency has urged the public to remain vigilant against the ongoing risk of flooding.
There were 74 flood warnings and 162 flood warnings issued across England on Sunday morning.
In an update on Sunday afternoon, the Environment Agency said: “Ongoing impacts to groundwater are likely in parts of the south of England over the next five days.”
It was stated that ongoing flood impacts could also arise from rivers across Somerset and Wiltshire, while river flooding is possible in parts of the Midlands from Sunday to Tuesday.
It warned that properties could be flooded and travel disruptions could occur.
According to the statement made by Meteorology, it is expected to rain in some eastern regions in the evening, but heavy showers will continue most of the night.
The snow warning for the east of England says “snowfall may cause some travel disruption”.
Met Office meteorologist Liam Eslick said on Sunday evening that temperatures should not fall below freezing overnight, meaning not much frost was expected in the UK.
Monday will be sunny and showery, with a risk of hail and thunder in some areas. However, Tuesday is expected to be drier and sunny.
Meanwhile, the risk of rain will increase on Wednesday and some snow will fall in the South.

Rain will linger in eastern areas until the evening hours, but heavy showers will continue through most of the night in many places. Some snow is possible on the highest peaks in the north.
Monday
A sunny and showery day. Some showers will be heavy at times, there will also be a risk of hail and thunderstorms. Snow showers in the far north.
Tuesday to Thursday
Drier and sunny on Tuesday. The risk of rain and perhaps snow in the hills increases in the south on Wednesday and Thursday. It mostly dries up elsewhere. Frosty nights.
