Demi Moore defends Rumer Willis against ex’s emotional abuse in custody battle

Demi Moore fiercely defended Rumer Willis as her daughter engaged in a bitter custody battle with ex Derek Richard Thomas, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Thomas quietly filed for custody of their three-year-old daughter Louetta last summer, and Willis, 37, responded with persistent allegations of emotional abuse throughout their two-year relationship.

In an affidavit filed earlier this year, Moore, 63, claimed to have “first-hand, personal knowledge” of Thomas’ desire to “dictate and control Rumer’s environment to suit his needs”; This desire became most evident when she was giving birth to her daughter.

“Acts of control and manipulation often had two sides,” Moore wrote. “He offered one to everyone, and then when he was alone with Rumer or me and Rumer’s siblings or nannies, he offered the other.”

“The image collapsed and revealed itself most clearly when Rumer went into labor.”

Moore alleged that while her daughter was in labor at home, Thomas “aggressively and abruptly entered the birthing tub without asking or showering.”

“Everyone was shocked. Rumer immediately asked him to come out and he did,” Moore wrote. “She then spent the rest of the labor acting angry, sulking, and making it all about herself. She had no regard for Rumer, the baby, the process, or anyone else for that matter.”

Following Louetta’s birth, the “Landman” actress and her daughters helped rearrange the house so it was fresh and clean for the baby, but they claimed Thomas “immediately started sulking and stomping his feet to show his displeasure with us being there.”

“Derek immediately came into his room and angrily complained that we were cleaning there,” Moore wrote. “I heard him pressuring Rumer not to have me and his sisters around for support. I heard him scolding Rumer and angrily complaining, ‘How dare we come here without his permission?'”

“That morning, less than twelve (12) hours after Rumer was born, he remained in the same room with Rumer for at least thirty (30) minutes. He did not leave her alone. This only ended when Rumer left the room to get away from him.”

“Derek continually spoils meeting her. He wants to put Rumer between us and our family, and to this day, he creates unnecessary stress and fear for Rumer,” Moore noted.

She claimed Thomas ruined the first moment he held the newborn by insisting on his own “skin-to-skin contact” with the baby.

Willis was preparing to breastfeed the child and gave him to Moore for a while, but Thomas allegedly “took off his shirt” and demanded the baby.

“He was so locked in and aggressive about this ‘skin to skin’ thing that he wouldn’t let Rumer put clothes on when Louetta was clearly cold and needed to be cuddled and swaddled,” Moore wrote. “He showed absolutely no respect, compassion or support towards anyone, especially Rumer and the baby.”

She also remembered how concerned her daughter was about Thomas smoking marijuana around the baby.

“Rumer, my other daughters, and I were worried he was unstable,” she wrote. “Rumer told me that Derek was constantly picking fights and causing him extreme stress. He said he wouldn’t let her sleep at night because he wanted to keep arguing throughout the night.”

Moore said the family made efforts to support him as a new father, but Rumer did not hesitate in his own actions to “completely disable his support system.”

“I continued to see him make choices that did not reflect someone who truly wanted to share parental responsibility, undermined Louetta’s interests, and did not see them as a priority,” Moore wrote.

Representatives for Thomas did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In his own affidavit, Thomas rejected Moore’s account of their relationship and said his application was “based on announcements and insinuations.”

“As a further indication of his hostile and troubled relationship with the defendant [Willis] Defendant told me directly that he did not want his family to be here for the first 40 days after Louetta’s birth,” Thomas wrote. “Yet the day Louetta was born, Ms. Moore and the household staff came to the home and caused significant distress.”

He added: “On this occasion Ms Moore threatened to ‘destroy me’, apparently based on something the Defendant had said.”

Willis and Thomas are expected to appear in court on June 9, where the judge will order custody and visitation.
