Democratic Socialists of America gain power as housing costs rise

While the socialist rebellion grows within its own party, the Democratic establishment is in denial. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer He calls Democrats “one great unified party” even as Democratic Socialists-backed challengers defeat incumbents and organize as a disciplined voting bloc. Party leaders dismiss them as a fringe, but the DSA is building a “Left Freedom Caucus” with the power to withhold votes, pressure the leadership, and impose a socialist agenda.

Socialism is becoming the Democrats’ answer to MAGA, as both movements respond by offering solutions to the anger of Americans who feel forgotten. The average first-time homebuyer is now 40 years old. Young Americans are struggling with housing costs, inflation, and fewer opportunities. While parents pay more for housing, food, healthcare and child care, political leaders appear to be insulated from the policies they adopt.

MAGA addresses frustration by offering solutions centered on work, family, property, safe borders, and national belonging. Democratic leaders continue to define their mission around taking on President Donald Trump and allowing socialists to fill the economic void with the promise of government relief from any economic hardship.

DSA does not need to win the nomination to shape presidential policies. He just needs the ability to influence a future Democratic candidate.

The biggest warning of a socialist catch-up is the recent actions of California Governor Gavin Newsom, the darling of the Democratic Party. He opposed California’s one-time 5 percent wealth tax on billionaires, warning that it would drive away wealth from the state. He later proposed a federal version. He recognized the economic danger but developed the policy anyway. This is what the takeover looks like. Extremists are gaining enough power that politicians are embracing policies they once rejected just to maintain their support.

The DSA spent years creating a political machine to force submission. He trained organizers, endorsed candidates, developed policies and targeted low-turnout Democratic primaries. Its candidates won in at least seven states and Washington, D.C., this election cycle, from local races to state legislatures to congressional primaries. Its influence is growing as Democrats embrace the DSA agenda to avoid being a prime target under the guise of the “big tent.” Political fear forces Democrats to embrace socialism.

The survey shows why this strategy works. Half of young Americans say inflation affects them “a lot,” while 41% say the same about rising housing costs. Only 29% believe they would be better off financially than their parents. The younger generation is losing faith that hard work will bring stability, homeownership or upward mobility and is looking for a party to fill the gap. The socialist left has stepped in, hiding state control behind the word affordability, and young voters are listening.

DSA offers affordability to voters, which sounds like a win. But the broader agenda includes public ownership, increased welfare, defunding ICE, anti-Semitism, redistribution of wealth and greater government control over housing. Socialism sells government control to pay for rent, food, and healthcare, but at the cost of reduced freedom to work, own property, and the future.

DSA’S THIRD MAJOR PRIMARY WIN DEEPENS DEMOCRATS’ STRUGGLE OVER THE FUTURE OF THE PARTY

Gallup finds that 57% of Americans view socialism unfavorably. This is a huge warning because DSA does not need to win the presidency to come to power. A DSA congressional bloc could withhold votes and block the president’s agenda until policy concessions are made. Republicans have already seen how a small faction in the House of Representatives can dictate terms to the entire majority and delay important legislation.

The next Democratic president doesn’t need to wave the socialist flag. A president could reject that label as socialist lawmakers block votes and activists enter the administration demanding policy change. The movement succeeds as it continues to win policy concessions.

The promise of America belongs to those born here and those who came here legally. It is the freedom to work, build, own property and manage our own lives. The American Dream can be renewed through affordable energy, safe borders, hard work, homeownership, raising a family, and the chance to get ahead. Socialism is a dead end because it promises redistribution of wealth, punishes greed, and increases dependence on government.

Socialists are already using their power to determine how Democratic leaders govern. Americans who demand the return of common sense should accept this warning before the American Dream becomes the American nightmare.
