Democrats embrace socialism as Mamdani, AOC lead party’s leftward lurch

Democrats are shifting leftward.
And I’m having a good time doing it.
Socialism is no longer a dirty word.
In fact, it becomes the business card of the party.
MAMDANI’S POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE SHOCKED THE DEMOCRATS, PUT THE PARTY FORWARD

The atmosphere changed when Zohran Mamdani came out of nowhere, defeated Andrew Cuomo, and found himself in New York’s Gracie Mansion.
Not only is he the city’s first Muslim mayor and anti-Israel, he is also a self-proclaimed socialist.
Here’s the problem: While this may be an advantage in blue cities, it’s a major albatross in national or statewide elections.
DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST MAYOR CANDIDATE CAUSES GROWING HEADACHES FOR FRAGILE NEW YORK DEMOCRATS
Most voters in these contests are not willing to march under the socialist flag.
What is helping the Democratic primaries in these broader elections is a poison pill.
So how did this come about?
THE FAR LEFT HAS TAKEN CONTROL OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY PLATFORM AND IS CLOSING THE VOTER.
It turns out that liberal and independent voters are fed up with the Democratic establishment. They think this is a party of elitists playing the same old rhetorical game and not serving the working class. They resent empty promises and the obsession with pronouns, “pregnant women” and trans men playing women’s sports. They feel abandoned.
However, it seems that the secret element in intra-party competitions is charisma. Mamdani won the support of New Yorkers by campaigning wholeheartedly.
After promising benefits like free buses and state-run grocery stores, he faced the reality that he needed Albany’s help to achieve even a fraction of his goals.

And Mamdani has made no secret of his anti-Israel sentiment, working against Democratic incumbents to push pro-Palestinian candidates into Congress while trying to make amends with Jewish voters.
He is not alone. In Washington, voters elected Janeese Lewis George, also a proud socialist. (Winning the Democratic primary here is tantamount to an election.) He has promised to help the government with tighter regulation of child care and utilities. So DC has its own Mamdani.

And Seattle elected Transit Riders Union co-founder Katie Wilson as mayor. He promised a “Trump-proof Seattle” on affordable housing, reducing homelessness and, especially, becoming a sanctuary city.
FETTERMAN SPEAK OUT TO ‘ABSOLUTE SOCIALIST’ SEATTLE MAYOR AND ‘APPROPRIATE COMMUNIST’ GRAHAM PLATNER
AOC became the first ultra-liberal to capitalize on this by defeating a longtime incumbent who is now so famous on social media that she is flirting with a presidential run.
Another case in point is Maine’s Graham Platner, a former Marine who survived a series of scandals (Nazi tattooing, sexting other women) that would make most candidates faint. He defeated the state’s 78-year-old governor in the primary, and many liberals are willing to ignore his checkered past.

Platner admitted to having problems with alcohol, post-traumatic stress disorder and being a bad boyfriend after returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
LEFT, LEFT AND LEFTIST: DEMOCRATS MAY BE DEFINED BY RADICAL, BIG CITY MAYORS
Defining characteristics of these new wave socialists: They tend to be younger and create excitement along the way.
The MAGA coalition was broader, at least until the Iran war, rising prices, and the never-ending war over the Jeffrey Epstein files.
However, for this to happen, Donald Trump had to be elected first and then subject the Republican Party to his will. His revenge against GOP candidates who challenged him and defeated them in the primaries sent an unmistakable message to Republicans that dissent leads to political death.

However, it is difficult to see that the capital South socialists will prevail in the general elections. No matter how well it does in New York, Washington and Seattle, most voters are still wary of anything that smacks of socialism.
Democrats are currently leaderless, but that could change after the midterm elections. But for now, the new wave socialists look set to be defeated in almost every general election race. Even given Trump’s current popularity, they may swim in blue waters, but not in the larger green ocean of voters moving away from the turbulent tide of socialism.
