Democrats in US Congress ask Andrew to appear for questioning over Epstein links

Democrats in the US Congress have asked Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to answer questions as part of the investigation into pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Members of the House Oversight Committee wrote a letter to Andrew addressed to the Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park, where the former prince had agreed to leave.
The committee does not have the authority to force Andrew to appear before them, but said it planned to ask questions about information about Epstein’s network and associates, based on the pair’s “longstanding” friendship.
Andrew was stripped of his “prince” title last month following months of pressure over his ties to Epstein. He always denied wrongdoing.
The letter, signed by 16 Democrats, asked Andrew to sit for a “transcribed interview” in front of the congressional committee investigating the Epstein case.
“The Committee seeks to uncover the identities of Mr. Epstein’s collaborators and supporters and understand the full scope of his criminal operations,” the letter said. The statement was included.
“The well-documented allegations against you and your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein indicate that you may have knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation.
“To ensure justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, we ask that you cooperate with the committee’s investigation by sitting down for a written interview with the committee.”
The committee is controlled by Republicans, who have not indicated they would support the move.
Buckingham Palace announced last month that Andrew would lose his title as prince and leave his home in the Royal Lodge as his ties to Epstein continue to cause controversy.
Andrew Mountbatten of Windsor (now known) also gave up his other royal titles, including Duke of York, following further questions and allegations about his private life.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s leading accusers, repeated allegations in a memoir published posthumously in October that she had sex with Andrew on three separate occasions when she was a teenager. Andrew denies the accusations.
The committee addressed these allegations in the letter and requested that the former prince be present for an interview “given these recent events and the appalling allegations that have come to light from Ms. Giuffre’s memoirs and other credible sources.”
Some members of the committee They had already intensified their calls for Andrew to answer questions About his connections with this sex offender just days after he was stripped of his title of “Prince”.
