Democrats reportedly forced to ‘grapple uncomfortably’ with World Cup success under Donald Trump

World Cup visitors embrace America on FIFA World Cup trip
Fox News senior national correspondent Rich Edson and podcast host Emily Austin discuss the 2026 FIFA World Cup and highlight how foreign visitors are embracing American culture and hospitality. Austin shares viral videos of fans exploring US cities, trying American food, and celebrating together. This interaction creates positive excitement by reminding Americans of the great qualities of their nation and dispelling media-driven misconceptions.
In the months leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the expectation of many European football fans and left-wing media pundits was that the tournament would be a disaster.
They said fans from around the world would not want to visit the United States under President Donald Trump. They argued that stadiums in the US supposedly lack the atmosphere of European stadiums. And logistics could somehow become a nightmare because of Trump. Or something.
Fast forward to the end of June, the group stage was complete and the tournament was widely considered a complete success.

Fan bases from around the world, such as Scotland and Norway, take over baseball games. Dutch fans marched through the streets of the city. A German fan became an internet sensation after traveling the South and enjoying small-town American hospitality. He was invited backstage to meet Ella Langley at a recent concert. England fans met with President Trump.
WORLD CUP FANS ARE IN LOVE WITH AMERICAN CULTURE, CASUAL FOOD CLASSICS
Apparently fans came to visit the US anyway.
In fact, FIFA recently announced that the 2026 World Cup had broken the previous attendance record with only the group stage matches. More than 4.6 million fans watched the matches in the United States, Mexico and Canada; this number exceeded the previous record of 3.5 million. This was also determined when the USA hosted in 1994.
By all accounts, this year’s tournament was a tremendous success. And Democrats are deeply unhappy about this.

Policy reported Recently the left has had to “uncomfortably grapple” with how well the World Cup is going.
“I think it’s a bit of a liberal wishful thinking that sticking it to Trump could be kind of a disaster,” Digital Democrat strategist Rob Flaherty told Politico. “It hasn’t happened yet.”
Unbelievable. Democrats are so out of touch with politics that they specifically hoped the tournament would fail to criticize Donald Trump. Now that’s not the case, they are in a miserable situation.
Rep. Brendan Boyle, a Democrat from Philadelphia, agreed that the tournament was a “remarkable achievement” and a “wonderful moment.” He also told Politico: “I’m excited about the United States hosting the World Cup, how well it’s going, how open these foreign fan bases are to learning more about the United States and interacting with ordinary Americans.”

But even if he acknowledged this, he failed to acknowledge that the Trump administration helped achieve this outcome.

“Let me be clear, my comments are independent of the Trump administration,” he continued. “Frankly, his immigration policies over the last year and a half have scared some people away from coming to the United States.”

Certainly. That’s why every venue is filled with fans from all over the world and social media is flooded with fans from Europe, Japan and South America telling how much they enjoy visiting the country and meeting the people.
But this is the modern left; When Trump does something good, we cannot accept it. They are unhappy when things are not a “disaster” and they hope they can attribute the disaster to the right side. Unfortunately for them, the World Cup was unremarkable. And weeks of matches remain.
