On Friday, X users angered Democrats after the party’s official account posted a tribute to comedian Stephen Colbert, a day after the midnight period ended.
“Thank you, Stephen Colbert.” specified account in a post accompanied by a photo collage of the former “Late Show” host alongside former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, former First Lady Michelle Obama and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The post sparked backlash on the platform, with critics mocking the party for celebrating a comedian who is often seen as overtly partisan.
Former Trump White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer wrote“It’s done a great job using public airwaves to transport your water.”
“Thank you for what? For being a Democratic Party activist?” another user asked.

Republican commentator Matt Whitlock joked, “Dang, I can’t believe people think this show is more about politics than entertainment.”
Another one made the party angry by saying “I confess”[ting]” Colbert was his propagandist.

President Trump himself celebrated the end of Colbert’s “Late Show” run with a Truth Social post on Thursday.
“Colbert is finally done CBS. It’s amazing how long it lasted! No talent, no ratings, no life. He looked like a dead person. You could take any man off the street and he’d be better than this piece of shit. Thank God he is finally gone!” the president wrote.
