Caitlin Clark probable for Fever-Valkyries rematch after back issues

The latest development in the season that Caitlin Clark has been following closely came about 24 hours before the Indiana Fever’s final game was announced.

Clark was listed as probable ahead of Thursday’s game against the Golden State Valkyries as she continues to deal with a past issue early in the WNBA season.

Meanwhile, all signs point to teammate Bree Hall being ready, too.

Caitlin Clark was a late scratch in the Fever’s match against Portland Fire on May 20, marking the first game she missed of the season. Even without Clark, Indiana cruised to a 90-73 victory. The Fever reached 90 points again, this time beating the Valkyries last Friday.

While there was some concern about Clark’s availability during last week’s Fever-Valkyries game, those concerns were short-lived. Clark returned to the starting lineup and scored 22 points to lead Indiana to its third straight victory.

Clark’s promising start to her WNBA career was disrupted by injuries in 2025. Clark, who played in 40 games and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2024, could only play in 13 games last season due to groin pain and a bruise on his ankle bone.

On Wednesday, on the Fever’s off day ahead of Thursday’s Golden State-Indiana rematch, Clark was spotted heading to the San Francisco Giants’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, about a mile from the Valkyries’ home plate.

Clark attended the game with her boyfriend, former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery.

McCaffery and Clark were spotted wearing Giants hats at Oracle Park, but Clark has previously acknowledged his Phillies fandom — even if the team wasn’t actually his first choice.

“My boyfriend grew up a huge Phillies fan, so I had to love the Phillies, too. I love them, I love Bryce Harper. I still love the Cubs, I love the Yankees. I’m not a diehard of any baseball team. My dad was a big Royals fan,” the two-time WNBA All-Star said. He said in 2024.

“Kansas City was like a professional sports team for us. I loved the Chiefs before they were really good, so I’m not a bandwagon fan. I love the Phillies, so I’ll be cheering for them this postseason.”
