Details emerge in deaths of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner as son is charged

Times It was reported Monday that Nick Reiner was acting erratically that evening and alarmed the guests with his behavior, two people who attended the party said. One of those two guests, who spoke on condition of anonymity to protect relations, said Rob Reiner scolded his son and told him his behavior was inappropriate for a guest in someone else’s home.
The person close to the family was unable to dispute that statement, but said Rob and Nick Reiner did not have a heated argument and that the episode was exaggerated. The person said the intensity of any conversation that may have occurred between father and son may have been misinterpreted.
The person disputed reports that suggested the family may have left the party early due to his son’s behavior. The person said Nick Reiner’s behavior at the party was not unusual for the Reiners, who had become accustomed to it over the years.

The day after the Sunday afternoon party, 28-year-old Romy Reiner ran away from home in pain when she discovered her father’s body in the house. The person said his roommate, who was waiting outside, called 911.
When paramedics arrived, the person said Romy Reiner told them her brother also lived on the property but did not suggest to authorities that his brother might be a suspect, as some news outlets reported.
The person in question said that Romy Reiner did not see her mother’s body at home and that she learned from the paramedics outside that she had also died.
Investigators were unable to find his son at the guesthouse. He was arrested without incident by Los Angeles Police Department Gang and Narcotics Unit officers around 9:30 that evening and found himself approximately 15 miles from the Exposition Park neighborhood southwest of Downtown. It was unclear how police found him.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said the medical examiner had not yet determined whether Reiners died Saturday night or Sunday.
Hochman said his son will be formally arraigned soon. Nick Reiner was expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday morning, but he was not there and his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client was not medically permitted to be transferred from prison.
