Devoted mum’s children answered door to police as she lay fatally wounded
A devoted mother’s young children were at their home in Clyde North when she was allegedly murdered by her partner.
Brooke Timmins, 29, was remembered by her family Monday not for the circumstances of her death, but as a “mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and beautiful person.”
“Brooke had a great passion for basketball and especially loved coaching. He devoted much of his time and heart to the sport and the people he coached, encouraging and supporting those around him,” they said in a statement.
“He was kind, compassionate and deeply loved by so many people.
“Brooke had her whole life ahead of her and she deserved the chance to watch her children grow and experience all the beautiful moments to come.”
The Timmins family said the 29-year-old’s children, who were at home when police arrived, were his whole world and he was loved very much by his family.
Roof tiler Jorden Turney, 32, of Clyde North, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with Timmins’ murder.
The court heard Timmin will be examined by a custody nurse as police try to find out what caused him serious injuries at the Generation Drive property at around 6.30pm on Sunday. He later died in hospital.
The court heard Turney had a history of psychiatric illness and self-harm.
The prosecution also requested extra time to prepare the summary of evidence, which it said would include analysis of medical equipment and mobile phones.
Judge Vincenzo Caltabiano stated that there was no application for bail and kept Turney in custody until November 30.
