Dezi Freeman’s sister condemns cop killer’s actions, saying she feels ‘ashamed and angry’

The sister of cop killer Dezi Freeman has spoken out for the first time about her brother’s destructive actions.
Freeman’s sister, who preferred that her name not be made public, said: messenger of the sun He said he was “embarrassed and angry” by his brother’s actions.
Speaking to the masthead on Thursday, Freeman’s sister said she felt “completely devastated and heartbroken” for two police officers killed at her brother’s Porepunkah property on August 26.
Freeman, dead detective Sen. He escaped after shooting Const. Neal Thompson and Sen. Const. Vadim de Waart-Hottart as officers attempted to execute a search warrant. A third police officer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was also seriously injured in the conflict.
“I am ashamed and angry that my brother had the capacity to kill two people who were just doing their job,” she said, adding that her parents “would have been horrified if they had been alive to witness the tragic events of the last seven months.”
“Just like Neal and Vadim and their families, colleagues and friends, we didn’t want any of this,” he said.
“Dez has done harm and evil to so many people and for what?
“None of his violent actions make sense.”
A team of ten police officers went to Freeman’s rural Victoria property in August last year to execute a search warrant relating to historic sexual offences. He managed to elude police for months, sparking one of the largest manhunts in Australian history.
Freeman’s seven-month life on the run finally came to an end on Monday, when he was killed during a gunfight with police on a rural NSW estate near the small town of Walwa. He was hiding in a makeshift shipping container house.
Freeman’s sister said she believed her brother died by suicide and was shocked to hear the news of his death.
“I was at work when I saw the news. I was in complete shock and distress.”
“I seriously believed that he committed suicide immediately after he was shot that day.”
Freeman’s sister made clear that she does not hold extremist views and had a clear message for the cop killer’s supporters: “He is not a hero.”
“I only care about the people affected by my brother’s hatred.
“Heroes build communities, not destroy them.”
Freeman’s sister added that while Monday’s events may bring closure, it won’t be enough for the victim’s families.
“There may be some closure, but it doesn’t bring Neal and Vadim back and three innocent children are left fatherless,” he added.
