FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested an illegal immigrant accused of rape, procuring sex with a minor, and sexual exploitation in Oregon after the immigrant was released on bail under sanctuary policies.
Manuel Cruz-Ramirez, who still faces multiple charges, was not referred to immigration officials upon his arrest and release due to Marion County’s sanctuary status.
The illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested simply for using a fake Mexican passport at Portland International Airport. According to DHS, TSA and CBP agents were flagged when the fake name did not yield complete data.
“Manuel Cruz-Ramirez was arrested for rape, procurement of sex with a minor, and sexual exploitation in Oregon,” DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital. “The state’s sanctimonious politicians allowed this pedophile to be released from prison and returned to American communities.”

TRUMP CALLED DHS AND ICE TO EXPLAIN ARRESTS, SAID THE CRASH ‘SAVED MANY INNOCENT LIVES’
In unsanctuary cities, Cruz-Ramirez would approach immigration officers who would apprehend him before he was released from custody.
“Americans can be proud of the swift actions of TSA and CBP, who protected them and our judicial system by preventing this monster from escaping the country,” McLaughlin said. “Criminal, illegal aliens should not be released from prisons onto our streets to terrorize more innocent Americans.
“Oregon’s sanctuary politicians must end this reckless frenzy of releasing child predators from prison into our neighborhoods to prey on more innocent children,” he added.

DHS also told Fox News Digital that Cruz-Ramirez was deported from the United States in 2018 but re-entered the country at an unknown time and place. He is currently in ICE custody and the restraining order has been reinstated.
Portland became one of several cities where agitators mobilized to confront and protest federal law enforcement.
On Thursday, Fox News Digital reported that DHS had opened an investigation into an Oregon resident who was arrested with knives and materials to make Molotov cocktails during a traffic stop.

The 18-year-old Oregon resident allegedly wrote a manifesto at the Portland ICE office with the intention of killing ICE. The man reportedly told authorities he planned to buy an AR-15 rifle to carry out the attack.

Democrats, including those in Congress, have referred to ICE agents as Nazis and Gestapo, and the Trump administration has said such rhetoric endangers the lives of law enforcement across the country.
In an interview with Fox News Digital earlier this month, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem noted the difference between some cities and those controlled by far-left leaders, saying fighting is much less common in cities where authorities cooperate with federal law enforcement.

“The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul have the opportunity to do the same thing that Memphis did. We had a Democratic mayor there who worked with us,” Noem told Fox News Digital. “It was almost the same size as a city, about the same number of federal law enforcement officers were there, and we significantly reduced the crime and murder rates and had a good partnership together.”
