Washington: US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he was “a little disappointed” that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky did not agree with his plan to end the war with Russia.
“We’ve been talking to President Putin and we’ve been talking to Ukrainian leaders, including President Zelensky and President Zelensky, and I have to say, a few hours ago, I was a little disappointed that President Zelensky hadn’t read the proposal yet,” Trump told reporters on the red carpet when asked about the Kennedy Center Honors. he said.
Days of talks between US and Ukrainian officials, including Zelensky, ended Saturday with no visible progress, but Zelensky pledged that talks towards “real peace” would continue.
The talks took place after US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, and Moscow rejected parts of the US proposal.
The US plan has gone through multiple drafts since it was first unveiled last month, amid criticism that it was too soft on Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
