Layoffs at Disney: According to the Wall Street Journal, citing sources with knowledge of the matter, Disney is preparing to lay off 1,000 employees in the coming weeks.
This is the first major round of layoffs at Disney since new CEO Josh D’Amaro took over.
According to the WSJ report, plans for upcoming layoffs at Disney began before Josh D’Amaro took on his new role as Disney’s chief executive officer in March.
Layoffs at Disney: Who will be affected?
The upcoming layoffs at Disney will likely affect less than 1% of the company’s total headcount, according to a separate report from Reuters. At the end of fiscal 2025, Disney employed approximately 231,000 people at the company.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, most of Disney’s layoffs will be in the company’s recently consolidated marketing department.
