Trent Alexander-Arnold is latest player AXED for the World Cup as Thomas Tuchel’s squad is LEAKED in brutal culling of England big names

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left out of England’s World Cup squad, joining a host of big names left at home by Real Madrid star Thomas Tuchel.

Alexander-Arnold joins Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Harry Maguire, Lewis Hall and Luke Shaw among players rumored to be heading on holiday instead of the United States this summer.

Instead, Djed Spence of relegation-threatened Tottenham is set to fly among England’s centre-backs. England’s other full-backs include Reece James, Nico O’Reilly and Tino Livramento.

England’s full squad announcement will be broadcast live on Daily Mail Sport from 8.30am this morning.

The squad began leaking on Thursday afternoon, with the Daily Mail publishing a series revealing who was included and who was excluded from Tuchel’s latest selection.

Fans were stunned by some of Tuchel’s big-name omissions, particularly regarding Maguire, Palmer, Foden and Alexander-Arnold.

Supporters of the Three Lions shared their thoughts on social media and the consensus was overwhelmingly against Tuchel.

Content creator Tom Garratt wrote of X: “Saying no to Lewis Hall borders on treason.” “Can’t the king intervene?”

‘When you really think about it,’ Rory Jennings said, ‘it’s a shame that Thomas Tuchel is England manager, it’s a national shame.’

@Gideoomatic said: ‘Tuchel has somehow managed to unite the entire English fanbase, quite impressive actually.’

‘Tuchel has lost his mind,’ said another fan. ‘So what?’

Maguire broke his silence on Thursday after it was revealed he had been left out of England’s 26-man squad despite an improvement in his form.

The Manchester United defender said he was shocked and upset by the decision to leave him at home, while his mother Zoe and brother Joe expressed their anger.

Maguire said: ‘After last season I was confident that I could play an important role for my country this summer. I was shocked and heartbroken by the decision. I wish the players all the best.’

Responding to her post, her mother said: ‘You couldn’t have done more. Keep your head up… It’s a shame. I’m disgusted.’

His brother Joe wrote: ‘This could possibly be the worst decision I have ever seen in my life. ‘There are no words.’

Maguire’s wife Fern also backed the centre-back, posting on Friday morning: ‘Beyond devastated for you. There was nothing else you could do to prove your worth.

‘I don’t need to tell you how much he admires you, it’s a shame you go against one opinion. I’ll be behind you forever, my love.’

ENGLAND WORLD CUP TEAM IS EXPECTED

GOALKEEPERS: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, James Trafford

DEFENSE: Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Dan Burn, Jarell Quansah, Tino Livramento, Nico O’Reilly, Djed Spence, Reece James

MIDDLE AREA: Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Kobbie Mainoo, Jordan Henderson, Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze

FORWARDS: Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon

Alexander-Arnold, 27, will be disappointed, but given Tuchel’s past comments about him, it will perhaps come as no surprise if he misses the World Cup.

The former Liverpool right-back, who played for England at Euro 2024 under Gareth Southgate, was transferred to Real Madrid last summer, but still failed to break Tuchel’s thoughts. The former Chelsea manager prefers James at right-back and Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson in midfield.

As recently as March, Tuchel said Alexander-Arnold was “behind other players” in his “long list” of players.

‘We created a slightly different game model when he was not in camp in September, October, November,’ Tuchel said. ‘It was a very intense pattern of play, built on intensity, built on positivity, built on overlaps and underlaps even in the right-back profile.

‘So the profile of the players who were with us in the camp and performed very well was a little different. We’re just sticking with these guys on his back and maybe he was with us in June and maybe he should have deserved a second chance.

‘This is a very difficult decision. I’m aware, but yes, he took it on the chin. It will continue. Maybe I’ll make sure I watch some of Real Madrid’s games. [in the] ‘I will make my final impressions in the Champions League.’

It’s been a tough few months for Alexander-Arnold, who landed in Madrid after a difficult start to his career in a new country.

Real will be trophyless this season and in turmoil ahead of Jose Mourinho’s return as manager. Alexander-Arnold also broke up with his model girlfriend Estelle Behnke two months ago.

The inclusion of Ivan Toney in Tuchel’s squad is shocking, considering the Al-Ahli striker has only played three minutes under Tuchel and has not been in the squad since last June. Ollie Watkins will complete the centre-forward unit with captain Harry Kane.

Tuchel’s defenders will include Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah, Dan Burn and John Stones. Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jordan Henderson and Kobbie Mainoo will form the team’s midfield quartet.
