Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets World Series MVP honors

The Los Angeles Dodgers upped the ante by making the shrewd move of signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto before the 2024 season, giving the rotation some extra muscle it may need in the playoffs.
Extra green paid dividends for the second season in a row.

Yamamoto won three games in the World Series, including Game 7, to help the Dodgers win back-to-back championships. In Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays, Yamamoto faced a difficult situation late in the ninth quarter but managed to stay strong.
He went 2.2 innings, allowed just one hit, struck out one and hit the game-ending double play as the Dodgers won the game 5-4 in 11 innings.
For his efforts, Yamamoto was named the World Series MVP.

“When I went to the field tonight, I wasn’t sure if I could pitch, but I’m glad I could,” he told FOX’s Kevin Burkhardt after the game.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was elated.
“Yamamoto IS THE GOAT” he shouted.
The Dodgers went for Yamamoto after he pitched six innings in Game 6 of the Dodgers’ victory over the Blue Jays on Friday night. He struck out six and allowed one run. He threw 96 pitches in that game.
Yamamoto also appeared in Game 2 of the Dodgers’ win against the Blue Jays. He pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight.

The Dodgers became the first team to win back-to-back championships in MLB since the New York Yankees did so in 1999 and 2000.
