Dog mauled to death and owner injured as police hunt aggressive pit bull

A small dog was mauled to death and its owner injured in a ferocious dog attack in Melbourne’s north on Friday morning.
A small dog and its owner were taking a morning walk at the Raeburn Reserve on Landells Road in Pascoe Vale when two pit bulls attacked the couple, killing the small dog and injuring the owner who was trying to protect his dog.
One of the pit bulls was found by police and taken to safety, while the second escaped after being spotted near Pascoe Vale railway station.
Police teams are patrolling the surrounding streets in an attempt to locate the aggressive dog, but have not been successful so far.
Anyone who sees the dog is asked not to approach him and call Triple-0.
