Dog show to be conducted in Ooty from May 8

South India Kennel Club (SIKC), Ooty, 138th andThe 139th commemorative dog show will begin on Saturday, May 9, 2026, a press release stated. The show will begin with obedience testing for dogs starting Friday, May 8.
The 104th obedience test and special demonstrations of Dachsund, Beagle and Indian breeds will be held on Friday at the Government Arts College grounds in Udhagamandalam, the press release said. The 138th and 139th commemorative dog shows will be held on May 9 and 10.
The obedience test will be judged by Philip Butt and all breed shows will be judged by Yulia Olkova from Kazakhstan, Victor Lobakin from Azerbaijan and Gragam Kerr from Australia. The statement stated that the special shows will be judged by Spanish Preetam and Quique Boza Alpheratz.
SIKC said the memorial show will be held in memory of Dharmu, “the oldest and oldest member of SIKC and animal lover”.
This year, the show has 435 entries for all breed shows from more than 55 different breeds, with an all-time high of 55 entries for the Indian Breeds specialty competition.
“The club president Ms. Rajini Krishnamurthy, with the support of the show committee, is making all arrangements to make the show a grand success. We have requested the collector to distribute the awards,” the statement said.
