Dolphins stars Herbie Farnworth and Selwyn Cobbo set to join forces

In a 2025 season described as inconsistent, with his form limited by 15 games and a hamstring injury, the 23-year-old was still averaging a career-best 154 running metres. Even in the period between his arrival at Redcliffe and Tuesday, Cobbo looked weaker.

Asked if he had ever seen Cobbo as fit and strong as he is now during their time together, Farnworth agrees: “No, I haven’t, never.

“He’s a great athlete, he’s in really good shape and looks like he’s grown again in the off-season. He’ll add the physicality we need in the back five.”

“I’m not sure if he’ll play on the wing or at centre-back, but I’d love to have him on my wing.”

Cobbo will essentially be playing for his future from the opening whistle, given that his contract expires at the end of this year, with Perth Bears facing the threat of a possible poaching raid.

That won’t be the case for Farnworth, which has secured a one-year extension until the end of 2027 despite its links to the venture.

While this still opens the door for the Papua New Guinea outfit to pry him away from Redcliffe in 2028, the England Test sensation has rejected such suggestions.

“I’ll put the rumors to rest, I’m happy at the club,” Farnworth said.
