Domestic PCB manufacturing to save Rs 40,000 crore imports annually: Ashwini Vaishnaw

He added that the center expects Jewar in Uttar Pradesh to become a major manufacturing hub in electronics. Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday jointly laid the foundation stone of two projects in the electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) to be located in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) industrial area near Noida.
Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw said India is currently the 6th largest electronics exporter and the government has set a target of becoming the 2nd largest globally. “We are moving from assembly to deep manufacturing. The advanced multilayer PCBs produced here, some with 20 to 22 layers, form the backbone of modern technology. What we once imported, we will now ‘manufacture in India’ for the world,” Vaishnaw said.
Considered the fundamental backbone of electronics, PCBs provide the physical foundation and electrical paths that enable sensitive components to communicate. The projects include a Rs. Korea Circuit Co. with contract manufacturer Amber Enterprises to produce high-density interconnect (HDI) PCBs, flexible PCBs, and semiconductor substrates. Ltd. 3,250 crore joint venture by (KCC).
Amber’s separate 100-acre facility worth Rs 3,500 crore will focus on room air conditioners, copper-clad laminates and other critical components. Both facilities together are expected to create employment for approximately 3,000 people. Designed as Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facilities, both production units will integrate advanced water recycling systems, resource-efficient operations and sustainable production practices, Amber said.
