Amit Shah pushes district-level plans and security grid along border
Additionally, the Shah demanded that a zero-tolerance approach be adopted against all unauthorized encroachments in the 0-15 kilometer zone along the international border and that efforts be made to eliminate them.
While chairing the security review meeting in Bhuj, Gujarat, focusing on security-related issues related to the border and coastal areas of Gujarat along the India-Pakistan Border (IPB), Shah also emphasized the need to closely monitor the centers of radicalization in the border areas.
According to the government, the meeting focused on the challenges, threats and emerging concerns in these border areas along the India-Pakistan Border and highlighted the active and effective role of the state government, especially DMs and SPs in this regard.
Shah argued that border fencing, maritime border security and strong political will of the state government have led to a significant transformation in Gujarat’s security environment, resulting in a complete end to infiltration into the state and smuggling at the border. He stated that the reverse migration occurring in the border regions with the establishment of industrial units is a welcome development.
He also said that everyone, from the police station to the patwari, must work together to ensure the deportation of already established illegal infiltrators.
Pointing out that Security Coordination Groups comprising BSF, Coast Guard, Income Tax Department, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Lead Bank Manager should be formed in each district, Shah said that the responsibility of Income Tax, anti-money laundering and effective enforcement of Customs laws should rest with the District Magistrate (DM), Superintendent of Police (SP) and Inspector General (IG), Border District.
He also emphasized the need to maintain strict control over hawala transactions, financial transactions, mule accounts, shell companies, suspicious vehicles and GST collections in border areas.
