Don’t believe this latest Remoaner excuse to undo Brexit and shove UK back in EU | Politics | News

The chattering classes are at it again on Brexit! It seems that now he has a chance to get into bed with Brussels and reverse the democratic will of the people, thanks entirely to Donald Trump and the war in Iran. Yes, because what screams power more than a group of small, retiring former empires coming together for one last hurray? Frankly, fill the EU!
If Brexit has been a damp mess, that owes more to the incompetence of Boriswave Conservatives who decided voters who voted for tighter immigration controls didn’t actually want to deal with the border than to any fundamental issue with leaving. The big opportunity for reform now is to focus on the Commonwealth – all countries that share the same king, language and legal system, starting with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the CANZUK states of the United Kingdom.
The combination of these four will represent the world’s largest government and third largest economy. It would also complement individual economies: Australia, for example, could supply most of Canada’s industrial needs, while Canada’s abundant energy resources could power us in Blighty!
Beyond the four there are the other 12 Realm nations, as well as powerhouse Commonwealth republics like my adopted home of Singapore. The funny thing is, most of the world still thinks about us. If only our one-party politicians did it!
Reform can now build a foreign and defense policy around this brave Commonwealth. Our changing world offers the right time for this. Moreover, Pierre Poilievre, who is likely to be Canada’s next Prime Minister, is fully on board with CANZUK.
The West is hardly in its heyday. However, this decline is most pronounced in sclerotic Western Europe. Seriously, who would want to share their fate with them?
Instead, it is time to renew and revitalize our Commonwealth ties and offer a new alternative to those desperate souls who still yearn to return to Ursula von der Leyen’s decaying and geriatric European superstate.
