Don’t think there’s no support for Hanson in a seat like Nepean

Nepean is definitely not the kind of seat you’d think would fall to One Nation. It includes Portsea, one of Victoria’s wealthiest suburbs, and has yet to rival One Nation in its 24-year history.

But former Mornington Peninsula Shire mayor Steve Holland, who is a Liberal Party member until 2023, disagrees with the idea that the seat is immune to One Nation’s recent poll surge. He told me: “Anyone who thinks that the vast majority of Nepalese voters will not vote for One Nation doesn’t actually know the voters.”
