Dopey burglar who filmed himself after raids caught out by own footage | News

A burglar filmed himself before and after raids and the footage was used by police as key evidence to convict him.

Hamza Ghafoor, 22, of Sunderland Road, Bradford, was part of a gang that traveled from Bradford to Lancashire to commit a total of nine thefts of high value vehicles.

A Volkswagen Tiguan worth £35,000 was stolen in an incident in September 2023, while a BMW X3 worth £79,000 was stolen in October the same year.

When Ghafoor was arrested, a significant amount of incriminating evidence was seized from his phone, including a video showing the defendant in a stolen BMW.

Ghafoor was sentenced to six years in prison.

Lancashire Police said: “He is not the brightest thief of the bunch.”
