Vigilance Dept Detects Rs 228 cr Tax Evasion

Hyderabad: The Vigilance and Enforcement department detected tax evasion worth Rs 228.11 billion this year, of which Rs 213 billion contributed significantly to the state exchequer, director general Shikha Goel said on Wednesday.
He stated that 292 investigations were given to staff in 2025, and 480 investigations were completed and delivered by field officers, which shows that the efficiency in waste disposal has increased. Within the scope of routine inspection, 203 route controls covering 18,137 vehicles were carried out. These operations led to the registration of 3,994 cases and the collection of 12.51 billion rupees in fines and taxes.
In the civil supplies sector, 451 inspections were carried out at fair price stores, MLA points and private facilities. As a result, 53 cases, 38 IPC cases and 24 other cases were registered under Section 6A. Twenty-four vehicles were seized and essential goods worth Rs 114.95 million were seized.
“The ministry has focused on sensitive and priority areas such as cotton supply, paddy supply, seed supply, urea distribution and overloading of passengers and transport vehicles. The aim is to protect the interests of farmers, ensure public safety and ensure transparent implementation of government policies,” Goel said.
