‘Dozens along the beach’: Locals perplexed as mystery green balls wash up on NSW beach

Months after a “grease ball” epidemic washed along the coastline, dozens of mysterious green balls surprised the locals along a beach on the southern coast of NSW.
Mel Christensen took her dog to the Culburra Beach about 100 km south of Wollongong and was greeted with dozens of strange -looking, algae -like balls.
Green and velvety apparently, phenomenon coast threw the trash.
“We went to the beach for the morning walk at 8 am this morning, and we noticed dozens of balls along the coast.
“And of course, my dog ran to discover that they were not just tennis balls.”
After finding the mysterious balls, his dog gypsy was told.
“When examined more closely, they were made because they felt perfect global and moss.
“The powerful southern wind was blowing them up to the beach, and it looked crazy with all these balls rolling everywhere.”
Mrs. Christensen said the balls spread almost a kilometer from the beach.
The balls are believed to be a phenomenon known as “Neptune Balls ,, which are Marimo – a rare velvet moss form.
A local bulletin asked the locals whether they saw the “strange small algae balls ğı, which he said was more common in lakes and rivers in Japan and Northern Europe.
“But they can be seen at Culburra Beach now.”
The people of Ainu in Japan organize a festival for Marimo Moss Balls in Akan Lake, a Japanese Lake, known to grow great Marimo every year.

Mossy washing comes only months after the emergence of mysterious black balls that cover nine beaches in NSW.
Following a comprehensive investigation of the State Environmental Protection Agency, it turned out to be debris from nearby sewage networks.
EPA Director Operations Adam Gilligan, “pollution incidents, although exactly causes what causes the occurrence, the composition and properties of the debris cannons are consistent with a black -based sewage source,” he said.
The balls first appeared in the eastern suburbs of Sydney in October last year, but an expanded investigation was launched when it began to emerge on the southern coast and northern beaches of the state.
