DPR For 671-km Hyd-Pune-Mumbai High Speed Rail Complete, land Acquisition Required For 93-Km Within TG

Hyderabad: Railway officials informed the state government on Friday that the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor has been completed and proposals have been prepared for the 671-km section, for which land acquisition is required for around 93 km within the state.

The details were shared by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao at a review meeting held with senior officials from various departments and railway officials on the three high-speed rail corridors announced by the Center in the Union Budget 2026-27, connecting Hyderabad to Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.

The Chief Secretary instructed the officials to prepare proposals in coordination with the state government and the Union railway ministry. He instructed all departments to work in close coordination in preparing project reports and implementing the projects. He also asked the officials to take necessary steps regarding land acquisition, connectivity, infrastructure development and other project-related issues.

Railway officials informed the meeting that land acquisition of around 123 km would be required for the Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors, apart from the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai corridor. Officials also stated that some land would be needed to establish railway depots in Kokapet and Shemshabad.

Chief Secretary directed the authorities of roads and buildings department, HMDA and GMR Hyderabad Airport to coordinate with railway project authorities and provide full support for implementation of high-speed railway projects.

Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Navin Mittal, HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Union Railway Ministry officials and GMR Airport officials attended the meeting.

Ramakrishna Rao said the proposed high-speed rail projects will help transform the state into the “Telangana Emerging 2047 Economic Growth Corridor”. He observed that the high-speed rail network will emerge as a modern rapid transport system for the country and will support future public transport needs while revitalizing the industrial, IT and tourism sectors.
