“So it can’t be expressed in words. The reason why I picked up a bat and went to the cricket field to practice from day one was because today this dream came true and the biggest step in this journey was completed today. I really can’t put this feeling into words,” Sooryavanshi said.

The youngster revealed that the moment he saw the India jersey for the first time was surreal.
“It was just like a dream. The moment I saw that T-shirt, I couldn’t stop smiling. Sometimes, something happens that you never imagined would happen, and when it finally happens, you don’t know how to react. That’s exactly how I felt,” he added.
Sooryavanshi’s emotional turning point came just days after he was selected in India’s T20I squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England and also earned selection for the Asian Games contingent. With the call-up, the Bihar-born player became the youngest player ever to be selected for the Indian national team, eclipsing the record held by Sachin Tendulkar for over three decades. Tendulkar made his India debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16.
The youngster’s selection was supported by outstanding performances on the field. Earlier this month, he played another remarkable knock in the tri-series final between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, hitting 94 off just 29 deliveries.

In the process, Sooryavanshi smashed the fastest half-century in List A cricket history, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne’s previous record of a 12-ball fifty.
The knock was the latest highlight of a breakthrough year in which the youngster has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Indian cricket. His sensational IPL 2026 campaign for Rajasthan Royals played a key role in fueling his rise; Sooryavanshi amassed 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237.30.
He finished the tournament as top scorer, rewriting several records along the way, including a tally of 72 sixes. His dominant season also earned him a clean sweep of major individual awards including the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player, Super Forward and Super Sixers awards.
Expectations for the youth phenom continue to rise as India embark on a busy white-ball schedule against Ireland and England in the coming weeks. But for now, Sooryavanshi is enjoying the moment he has been dreaming of ever since he picked up the baton; He dons the India colors and takes the next step on what has become an extraordinary cricketing journey.
