Driver dies after crash during MSCA Super Sprint Championship round at Calder Park

A competitor at a Victorian grassroots motorsport event has died following a crash at the race meeting at Calder Park on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the Melbourne racetrack at around 10.05am following reports that a vehicle had crashed into the pole during Round 5 of the MSCA Super Sprint Championship.
The driver, the only person in the vehicle who could not be saved, died at the scene.
Victoria Police confirmed officers attended the incident and investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing.
“Police responded to a fatal single vehicle crash in Calder Park today,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been officially identified, died at the scene.
“The police will prepare a report for the coroner.
“WorkSafe has been notified.”

The death occurred during Round 5 of the MSCA Super Sprint Championship, a grassroots motorsports series held at Calder Park Raceway.
