Dubai explosion as ‘window shake’ during Iran attack with ‘drones and missiles’ | World | News

It was reported that Iran fired missiles and drones at the UAE and three people were injured. Others shared on social media that they felt windows shaking at Dubai Marina.
The Middle East has been in turmoil since February 28, when the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on several key regions of Iran. Iran retaliated by striking sites in the region and closing the critical Strait of Hormuz trade route.
Despite the short-term ceasefire, a long-term peace plan could not be reached and Iran targeted its neighbors again.
The UAE said it activated a series of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran on Monday, May 4.
The defense ministry said its air defense systems fired 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four unmanned aerial vehicles.
A missile appears to have hit an oil field in the eastern emirate of Fujairah. Fujairah Media Office said a drone started a fire in the area.
Tensions have also increased over the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20 percent of global oil trade passes.
UK Merchant Marine Operations reported that a ship was hit 36 nautical miles north of Dubai. It turned out that there was a fire in the engine room. The entire crew was accounted for.
One person shared on social media: “A huge explosion was heard in the marina, the windows shook.”
Another from the nearby city of Sharjah added: “There’s a big shaking of doors and windows here.”
A third said they heard a “huge explosion” from their home in Dubai Hills.
In his statement on the X channel on Tuesday, May 5, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that both the USA and the UAE “must be careful about getting dragged into the quagmire again.”
The country’s state television had previously quoted an unnamed military official as saying Tehran had “no plans” to target the UAE or any of its oil fields.
“The incident was caused by US military adventurism to create an illegal passage,” the official said of the oil facility attack, apparently referring to Trump’s recent efforts to reopen the strait.
