Dulquer Salmaan’s Telugu Dream Run Continues Unabated

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan has emerged as one of the most successful crossover actors in Telugu cinema. Interestingly, his 41st film is a straight Telugu project in which he is paired opposite Pooja Hegde. He is also starring in AkasamLo Oka Tara directed by Pavan Sadineni.

“Dulquer is the most sought-after Malayalam actor in Tollywood right now,” says the director. “She has the perfect blend of charm, screen presence and acting talent. Her understated performances have earned her a loyal fan base among Telugu audiences.”

Dulquer is also gearing up for another Telugu release, Lucky Bhaskar, which is creating huge buzz in Telugu states. “The film portrays him as a middle-class worker whose life takes an unexpected turn after luck smiles on him. It promises to feature yet another relatable and engaging performance from Dulquer,” adds the source.

He was last seen in 2898 AD in a special appearance in Kalki, a project he took on due to his long association with the Swapna Dutt family.

Dulquer first won over Telugu audiences with Mahanati, in which he played legendary Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan in the biopic of iconic actress Savitri. “Despite Keerthy Suresh playing the lead role, Dulquer’s effortless and charismatic performance stood out. His portrayal received critical acclaim and Telugu audiences adored both his acting and screen presence,” notes the director.

She further strengthened her position in Tollywood with the blockbuster Sita Ramam, in which she gave one of the best performances of her career. Portraying both a romantic hero opposite Mrunal Thakur’s character and a dedicated soldier willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, Dulquer impressed the audience with his emotional depth and versatility.

“Sita Ramam gave Dulquer a multi-layered role and he executed it with remarkable ease. The film made him a household name among the Telugu audience,” says the source.

Interestingly, Dulquer continues his family legacy in Telugu cinema. His father, legendary actor Mammootty, also won huge appreciation from Telugu audiences for his portrayal of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in Yatra. He reprized his role in Yatra 2 and once again garnered praise for his outstanding performance.
