Pete Hegseth serves Thanksgiving meals to deployed Navy sailors

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spent Thanksgiving with Navy sailors serving in the Latin American region, serving holiday meals and sharing a message of gratitude for their service.

“I was deployed three times; I was always thinking about my family and hoping they could come together with food and football and things like that,” Pete Hegseth said. “It won’t happen folks. Maybe we’ll bring them a turkey and some joy.”

The secretary of war also addressed Wednesday’s attack on two Washington D.C. National Guard members and prayed for the victims and their families.

“Our thoughts are also with Washington, D.C., with two great Americans who were ambushed and targeted,” Pete Hegseth said. “And we pray for them, for everyone around them, for their families.”

According to the War Department, the Hegseths visited both the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill.

Another video sent to X showed the Hegseths serving Thanksgiving plates to sailors.

“I give out a lot of candy on Halloween and a lot of turkey on Thanksgiving,” joked Pete Hegseth.

Hegseth was in the mess hall, serving Thanksgiving dinner to the warriors who keep America safe.

Aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, the secretary of war addressed the crew.

Pete Hegseth said, “Happy Thanksgiving from the Secretary of War. Happy Thanksgiving from the President of the United States. Happy Thanksgiving from a grateful nation.”

He referenced the Guard again, calling them a reminder of “the courage and dedication of Americans who risked everything.”

“Whether it’s patrolling our nation’s capital, out in our nation’s hemisphere, at sea, interdicting cartels, defending the American people, we are grateful,” Pete Hegseth said.

He added:So this Thanksgiving, on behalf of my wife and I, Jennifer, who has been with me and who will meet many of you, we offer you our deepest gratitude and reiterate our commitment to you and your family.”

The secretary of war concluded his speech with George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation and added a prayer for all deployed forces.

“God bless you, God bless you, you are in our prayers and we are grateful. Thank you. Thank you so much.”
