EastEnders’ Christmas Special delivered a shocking twist as a dramatic showdown at the Queen Vic ended in murder and a major bad guy died.

The first festive episode of the BBC series aired on Thursday night and revealed a huge bombshell for Zoe Slater, who discovered that both of her children had survived the birth and were still alive.

Fans of the series are aware that Chrissie Watts has returned to Walford to take revenge on Zoe and is manipulating events using her daughter Jasmine.

However, when it came to light at the Vic, neither Chrissie nor Jasmine emerged as victims.

Instead, the episode began with a tense confrontation between Zoe and Anthony.

Believing he was following her, Zoe confronted him – unaware that he was not responsible – before the situation got dangerously out of control.

Realizing that Anthony did not write the card her son allegedly sent, Zoe became convinced that her child had gone to find him.

When Anthony insisted that he could not keep him away from his sons, he said: ‘Son. He’s not coming for you, he’s coming for me.’

Desperate, Anthony pleaded: ‘Don’t do this, Zoe. This is a chance for us, we can start our family and get to know our children together.

‘This is what we both want, this is what we both need. “This is a second chance.”

Zoe screamed back in anger: ‘You lost him.’

She then made her feelings clear and shouted: ‘I don’t want to do this with you, I don’t want anything to do with you again.

‘What you told Kat about my children is disgusting. To leave. ‘I want you to go.’

The confrontation turned violent when Anthony attacked and grabbed Zoe, slamming her head into the railing and leaving her unconscious.

In the second episode of the Christmas special, Zoe decided to take responsibility for Anthony’s death.

But he feared that his newly reunited daughter, Jasmine, might have been involved in some way.

Determined to protect her family and prevent others from paying the price, Zoe made the heartbreaking decision to call the police and confess.

He was then taken away by officers, suggesting that his fate in the Square could now be decided.
