Six Murdered In Govindpur Village Of Vijayapura District

– Yes. Six people were killed in Govindpur village under Chadachan police station limits in Vijayapura district on Friday afternoon. Two more people were injured in the attack and were treated at BLDE Hospital in Vijayapura city.
Initial reports suspect that the incident was the result of a long-standing rivalry linked to a previous murder case.
The deceased have been identified as Dundappa Revansiddappa Nirale (65), Shivaputra Revansiddappa Nirale (58), Chandrakant alias Chandu Nirale (55), Rahul Nirale (25), Samarth Nirale (23) and Shabbir Babu Attar (45).
The injured include agriculturalist Aravind Katage (72) from Dasur village and JCB operator Sandeep Mane (33) from Maharashtra.
According to police, the incident took place between 2 pm and 2.30 pm in an agricultural field in Govindpur village, about 20 kilometers from Chadachan town.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident could be attributed to a murder case registered at Chadachan police station in 2015. In this case, Shivanand Patil, son of Kallanagouda Patil of Govindpur village, was killed after he allegedly eloped with a girl belonging to the Ganiga community from the same village.
Four members of the Ganiga community were subsequently arrested, convicted and sentenced in connection with the murder.
Police said that the accused in the earlier case left their agricultural land in Govindpur village behind and moved to another place after the murder case. The land had reportedly remained uncultivated for years and was recently purchased by the victims in Friday’s incident.
Investigators suspect a dispute over a land transaction may have triggered the attack.
Senior police officers, including Vijayapura Additional SP Laxman Nimbargi, Indi DSP and Chadachan CPI, rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. Crime Scene Investigation Office (SOCO) teams and fingerprint experts also visited the scene and started to investigate.
As tension continued in the area following the murders, the police deployed three DAR teams and four KSRP platoons in the village to maintain law and order.
The bodies were taken to BLDE Hospital for autopsy.
Police sources said people associated with the complaining party in the 2015 murder case are suspected to be behind the latest murders, but no official confirmation has been made so far.
A case has been registered at Chadachan police station and further investigation is on.
