Prince William is ‘banned from using e-scooter’ at new forever home in Windsor Great Park

Prince William has allegedly been banned from riding his e-scooter in the grounds of his new home in Windsor Great Park.

After leaving their former home, Adelaide Cottage, last year, William and Catherine moved into World War II at the sprawling 4,800-acre Berkshire estate. They moved into the grade-listed Forest Lodge.

They have chosen to make the Georgian mansion their ‘forever home’ and are keen to provide a ‘fresh start’ for their three children: 12-year-old Prince George, ten-year-old Princess Charlotte and seven-year-old Prince Louis.

But while the eight-bedroom property is an improvement on their former home – given that Forest Lodge is twice the size of Adelaide Cottage – there appears to be a slight downside for the future King.

The royal park’s rules state that e-scooters, William’s preferred mode of transport, are ‘not permitted’ for ‘safety reasons and traffic management’.

This means he cannot get around on his two-wheeler as he previously did when he lived at the separate Windsor Castle Estate just four miles away.

‘William loved his e-scooter to ride around the castle as there were no bans,’ an insider said Sun. ‘But of course he is more than happy and prepared to comply with the e-scooter rules at Windsor Great Park.’

It was first reported in July 2023 that the father of three had invested in an electric scooter to zip around the castle, making the purchase to speed up his three-mile round trip to see his father, King Charles.

Prince William has reportedly been banned from riding his e-scooter on the grounds of his new home in Windsor Great Park. Here he is seen riding his scooter in an episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple+ TV series The Reluctant Traveler.

The Prince, who is known to be environmentally friendly, has since often been seen using green transportation when carrying out royal duties.

A video has emerged on social media in which William is seen effortlessly cruising down the road wearing a blue sweater with a white shirt underneath, along with black trousers and stylish sunglasses.

And in October, William was once again seen greeting actor Eugene Levy using an e-scooter in an episode of Apple+ TV series The Reluctant Traveler.

In the clip, Prince was seen gliding effortlessly on the scooter, then coming to a controlled stop and dismounting in front of the show host; which caused Eugene to burst out laughing.

‘Is this your mode of transportation?’ Eugene asked, and the Prince confirmed that it happened while he was “in the ground.”

‘I have a very low threshold for adventure, so I’ve never actually been on one,’ Eugene added.

‘It’s progressing nicely, it’s quite fun,’ William replied.

The Welshmen had planned to live in the cozy four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage for years, but their time there was interrupted by Queen Elizabeth II. He was surrounded by unhappy memories, including Elizabeth’s death.

‘Adelaide Cottage unfortunately has some difficult memories of this,’ a source said. ‘They had their hardest time there… The family is really happy with this situation.’ [move] and I’m excited for a new beginning.’

One of the reasons William and his wife Catherine moved their family from London to Windsor in the summer of 2022 was to spend more time in the final years of Queen Elizabeth’s life.

Sadly he died just a few weeks later at Balmoral Castle on 8 September 2022. The family now feels so at home in the former Berkshire mansion that they have chosen to make it their ‘forever home’.

The Daily Mail has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
