Edinburgh fire LIVE: Black smoke billows with blaze at Arthur’s Seat | UK | News

A massive fire has broken out in Edinburgh’s iconic Arthur’s Seat, sending thick clouds of smoke across Scotland’s capital. Emergency crews rushed to the landmark after the alarm went off shortly after 6.30pm on Sunday evening.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four fire engines were sent to tackle the blaze after receiving numerous calls from the public. While fire crews are working to control the flames, expert sources are reported to have arrived at the scene.

A fire brigade spokesman said: “We are currently responding to an open fire at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. There are four fire engines at the scene. We were alerted at 6.38pm on Sunday 19 July. There is no need to call Operations Control regarding this incident.”
