Eight killed in bus crash in southern Turkey

8 people lost their lives in the accident that occurred when a bus left the road in an area where tourists are densely populated in southern Türkiye.

In the images broadcast on state television TRT, the vehicle is seen lying sideways on the embankment on the side road in Döşemealtı district, northwest of Antalya city center.

Provincial Governor Hulusi Şahin said that 26 people were injured, some of them in serious condition, in the incident that took place on Sunday.

DHA news agency reported that some passengers were thrown around on the bus that departed from Tekirdağ overnight.

Heavy rains have been effective in Antalya, a popular tourism destination in the Mediterranean, in recent days.

“The ground was wet and there was fog in the area,” Şahin said. “It’s not a place to speed, but it looks like the bus is speeding up.”
