Elementary school nurse arrested for stealing students’ Adderall pills

An elementary school nurse was arrested on drug-related charges Monday.

Licensed Professional Nurse Ivy Perdue Burton, who works for the Troup County School System, faces two controlled substances-related charges.

A report from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office stated that Burton was accused of stealing Adderall intended for students in his care and putting it in his bag rather than putting it in school storage.

Burton is currently listed as an employee of Long Cane Elementary School in LaGrange, GA.

The sheriff’s office report says Ivy has been placed on leave while the investigation continues.

Burton is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and purchasing or obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery or deception, according to jail records.

Channel 2 Action News He has reached out to the Troup County School System for comment and is awaiting a response.

The Georgia Department of State, which oversees the licensing of professionals in Georgia, said they have launched an investigation into the allegations regarding Burton.
