Eleven people missing after boat capsizes in Indonesia

Indonesian rescuers are looking for 11 missing people after a boat with alabora in bad weather on the Mentawai Islands in Western Sumatra.

Search and Rescue Agency said that the incident took place in Aest afternoon on Monday afternoon. 10 out of 18 people were local government officials.

The boat left Sikakap, a small town on the Mentawai Islands, and went to another small town, Tuapejat.

Authorities said that two boats and dozens of savors were deployed to find lost people on Tuesday.

Boats and ferries are a regular transportation mode in Indonesia, a archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, and it is relatively common due to bad weather conditions and often loose safety standards that allow overloading ships.

At the beginning of this month, a ferry sank near Bali. 18 out of 65 people died on the ship, 30 survived and 17 were lost.
