Elliot Anderson: Manchester City agree £130m deal with Nottingham Forest for England midfielder

Manchester City We signed an agreement with Nottingham Forest Up to a British record £130m to sign Elliot Anderson.

The 23-year-old England midfielder is expected to undergo a medical check-up before completing his transfer to the Etihad Stadium.

Forest had offered Anderson such a wage after rejecting two previous offers from City.

The fee would dwarf the £125 million Liverpool paid Newcastle for striker Alexander Isak last summer.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue and there was always confidence that the deal would eventually be done when City made a third offer.

Forest are interested in Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi and are expected to sign both midfielders this summer.

Anderson is preparing for England’s final Group L match against Panama at the World Cup on Saturday (22:00 BST) and told BBC Sport this week how he has put his club’s future aside.

“It’s pretty easy really, I just focus on the now, block everything out,” he said.

“I have a plan and that is to perform for England. I’m putting myself in the best position to get over the line and do that.”

Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle for £35 million in 2024 and made 88 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.

He helped Forest finish seventh in the Premier League in 2024-25 and then 16th last season, reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League.
