Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Saturday, January 31, 2026, that he only wishes victory for his party and the UDF opposition led by it in the upcoming Assembly elections in Kerala.

Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr Tharoor said he would campaign for the victory of his party and the Front.

He also reiterated that his only party is the Congress and said the media should stop asking him this question again and again.

The Thiruvananthapuram Congress MP also said that he will be in the Congress on Friday, January 30, 2026 and will not go anywhere.

“I will be a part of the poll campaign (in Kerala) and work for UDF’s victory,” he had said.

Mr. Tharoor on Thursday, January 29, 2026, met party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to redress his grievances, after which he said “everything is fine” and “we are all on the same page”.

He was upset about his treatment at a recent Kochi event and the attempts of some leaders to sideline him in Kerala.

The meeting took place ahead of the crucial Kerala Assembly elections for the Congress, which is trying to wrest power from the Left after 10 years in opposition and is doing its best to secure a victory in the southern state.
