Man arrested after racially abusive messages sent to England star Jess Carter

Police confirmed that a 59 -year -old man was arrested on suspicion of malicious communication after the racist and abusive messages were sent to England defender Jess Carter.
The suspect, Lancashire from Great Harwood, was released under the investigation.
Cheshire police, in July during the UEFA Women’s Euros, MS Carter’a reported that racist and abusive messages were sent.

The UK Football Police Unit (UKFPU) launched an investigation with social media companies to determine who was responsible.
On Thursday, Lancashire police officers arrested the man on suspicion of malicious communication with some messages.
The National Police Chief Council for Football Police (NPCC) leadership Ceshire Constable Mark Roberts said: “The messages to Jess Carter were terrible, and I would like to praise it for helping us to keep up with this abuse and help us investigate it.
“Nobody should be subjected to such disgusting abuse, and I expect today’s arrest to be the first of many in the coming months.
“We want to make it clear that racist abuse of this nature will not be tolerated. Everyone is responsible for what they do and said, and we want to ensure that criminals cannot be hidden behind a social media profile to publish inferior comments.”
Mrs. Carter admitted that she was afraid to play in the Euro 2025 final after abuse and thanked her teammates for their support.
“The support I felt from the fans was incredible,” he said. “I can’t thank them enough because I don’t know if each of them has the courage to go back to the field and play again without fans, my teammates and my family.
“I’m not the one who struggles with the hatred they normally get because everyone will have the idea. But this tournament was hard and I wasn’t sure I could go back to the field and do me.”
The lions stopped taking knees after the abuse and called on the authorities to do more to “come together” and “online poison”.
