Elon Musk vs Sam Altman again! OpenAI CEO alleges Tesla order issues, Musk hits back with, ‘you stole a non-profit’
The feud between Elon Musk and Sam Altman took a new turn when the OpenAI CEO shared a post claiming that the EV company owned by the world’s richest man did not cancel his Tesla vehicle reservation.
Altman claimed that he ordered a Tesla Roadster on July 11, 2018, by sharing screenshots of the order in his post on the X social media platform. On the same day, he requested the cancellation of the order and a refund of $50,000.
He later learned that the official web address to request refunds was still unavailable.
“I’m really excited about the car! And I understand the delays. But 7.5 years seems like a long time to wait,” Altman wrote.
However, Elon Musk claimed that the problem was resolved and refunds were provided on time.

Responding to the allegations, Elon Musk said, “You stole from a non-profit organization,” adding: “And you forgot to mention act 4, where this issue is resolved and you get a refund within 24 hours.”
Pointing to their previous conflicts, Musk said, “But it’s in your nature.”

Altman and Musk founded OpenAI in 2015 but had a falling out in 2018. Disagreements over the direction of the company, particularly whether it should remain non-profit, led to Musk’s departure and started a long-running fight.
Tensions rose further after Tesla’s CEO allegedly proposed a $97 billion acquisition offer for OpenAI. Musk, along with a group of investors, tried to buy the artificial intelligence company, but Altman immediately refused, stating that OpenAI was “not for sale.” Competition continued through legal documents and public information exchange.
