Responding to BJP leader BY Vijayendra’s accusation, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar called him the ‘father of corruption’, said the allegations needed evidence and that he would answer questions arising at the time. “We will respond to Vijayendra at an appropriate time. He has said that we are ATMs for the high command, but he needs to prove it. On what basis did he make this claim? Time will answer his questions,” Mr. Shivakumar told reporters at Circuit House in Belagavi on December 19.
Replying to questions regarding the dinner meeting organized by PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi for legislators, Mr. Shivakumar said there was nothing wrong in such meetings. “Is there anyone who can say no to a dinner meeting? There is nothing wrong with dinner meetings. We all came from outside,” he added.
When it was stated that only 4-5 MLAs were present at the dinner meeting, he said, “Why are you asking me this question? I have nothing to do with this issue.”
Mr Shivakumar dismissed speculation about the nature of the dinner meeting he attended the night before.
He said: “There was no dinner meeting or anything. I had gone for dinner with my former DCC president to pay my respects. They have contributed a lot to Karnataka…Belagavi. So I went with my friends to honor them. No other politics.”
The BJP has launched an all-out attack on the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka, calling the incumbent government the most unpopular government.
BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R. Ashoka said, “Compared to the Siddaramaiah of 2013, the Siddaramaiah of 2025 is the worst. This period is the worst in the history of Karnataka. He is not popular at all.”
Leader of Opposition in the Council, BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, alleged that the interests of the State were being ignored in the tussle between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar for the top post.
