Eluru district administration issues safety advisory amid heavy rains

Considering the continuous heavy rains and rising flood levels in Godavari, which polluted the Eluru region, the regional officials resorted to remain vigilant to the public and follow the security measures.

The electrical department warned people to stay away from electrical poles, transformers, wires and related equipment during the rains. Citizens are advised to not operate electrical switches with wet hands and to ensure that no device or wire contact with the water -filled areas in the houses. Residents are also asked not to touch or approach the cables that are detached when they fall into trees, vehicles or roads. Any event should be notified to the free number 1912.

Inspector Engineer P. Salman Raju emphasized the need to avoid the sewing of tents, sheds or temporary structures near electrical poles or transformers and advised parents not to allow children to play close to electrical facilities.

Meanwhile, Eluru Regional Collector K. Vetriselvi announced that special control rooms have been established to closely monitor the situation and provide the public help. The regional administration called on people in floods and low areas to remain vigilant in emergencies and to use these lines of help.
