Emergency services rushed to the scene of a light plane crash near Manchester.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a light aircraft crash in the Littleborough area.

“We are currently there to establish all circumstances and assess any casualties. A crime scene remains in place while emergency services carry out their investigations and people are asked to avoid the area while this work is carried out.”

It is believed that two people were traveling on the plane.

Air Accidents Investigation Branch Directorate launched an investigation into the accident.

A spokesman said: “A crash involving a light aircraft near Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was reported to the AAIB today (February 3). An investigation has been launched and a multi-disciplinary team of investigators are en route to the crash scene.”
