Battin is strong in crime and community security, but his party’s economic narrative is weak and underdeveloped. Newbury is a lawyer who will serve as a chief prosecutor, despite his investment in Shadow Treasurer portfolio.
In practice, if the party leader refuses to interact with economic and financial issues, it is not important who is a shadow. Battin, a former police, is the most comfortable talking about crime and community security. Opposition deputies, including some of the senior portfolios, are disappointed that they see as a myopic obsession with law and order.
“It is not easy to say that we have to change the shadow minister,” a deputy said. “This is not the problem. The problem is the stable focus of the top who believes that the crime is the only thing worth talking about.”
Battin, for now, keeps any change of change. Follow the hatred to predict which direction it will go.

Abandoning Newbury as a shadow treasurer will require more than the skillful navigation of internal hostilities. Among the supporters of Newbury and Wilson, the whole hell would relax.
